Meadowbrook Circle is an alternative folk and Americana band rooted in family, harmony and storytelling. At the heart of the group is the father-and-son duo of Sean Michael Sullivan (guitar, lead vocals, songwriter) and Sean Thomas Sullivan (mandolin, mandola, tenor guitar, vocals). Their musical connection runs deep - since Sean M. was a child, the two have been trading harmonies and passing songs back and forth, building the bond that still anchors the band today.
The lineup also includes Paul Perkins (banjo, vocals) and Joe Muller (bass, vocals), both longtime collaborators in Sean M.’s earlier recording projects. Paul, a devoted bluegrass player, lends intricate picking and tight harmonies, expanding beyond the bluegrass world to help shape the band’s unique sound. Joe, an accomplished bassist and harmony singer, provides rhythmic foundation and soaring high harmonies that elevate each song. Together, the four musicians form a circle of sound that is as textured as it is intimate.
Formed in early 2025 while rehearsing for a Live From the Gilded Palace performance in Dallas County, Iowa, Meadowbrook Circle has quickly grown into a band with both roots and momentum. Their performances showcase heartfelt lyricism, lush instrumentation, and harmony-rich arrangements - inviting audiences into an experience that feels both timeless and immediate.
At their shows, audiences regularly remark on the band’s commitment to originality, often thanking them afterward for playing sets that feature half or more original material. Meadowbrook Circle takes pride in this response, knowing their songs resonate deeply with listeners who not only respect but genuinely enjoy their original work.
For listeners drawn to the roots-driven storytelling of The Band, the cosmic Americana of Gram Parsons, the harmony-rich folk of The Avett Brothers and the modern songwriting of Jason Isbell, Meadowbrook Circle offers a sound that feels both familiar and new. Blending elements of alt-country, folk-rock and acoustic Americana, the band echoes the spirit of artists like Wilco, Sturgill Simpson, The Gourds, Old 97’s and Drive-By Truckers while carving out a voice of their own. Their music resonates with fans of heartfelt songwriting, tight harmonies and organic instrumentation — a Midwest-born approach that connects with audiences across the folk, Americana and roots-rock landscapes.
